Born October 3, 1981 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Niffty first started DJ’ing in late ‘99. He then moved to England in 2000 where he attended lessons at the Technics DJ Academy in Manchester. He then traveled through England perfecting his mixing and playing venues such as The Dry Bar in Manchester and Madame Jo Jo’s in London.

When he returned to JHB, he became a resident DJ at C3 and also mixed at the One Love Movement parties and other hip hop events.Scratching and Beat Juggling at venues like Carfax, Tempos, Truth, Songwriters Club, The Armchair Theatre, London Calling, The Bassline, Zula Bar, Red Cafe, Roxys and many more. He has mixed on Y-FM Radio where he won a battle on Bad Boy T and Lee’s Harambe show, beating some of the countries best hip hop DJ’s. He has played on that show several times since and has also played on AK’s the Joint numerous times.

He was one of the first DJ’s on the TV show The Shiz Niz and has been featured in every series since. He has also played on The O Boma TVshow on Channel O DSTV. Other TV appearances include Jip, Stook, GoTV, Go Zone TV.

In 2005, DJ Niffty and Dj Redwood decided to merge, forming the Idol Hands Table Band, which is now one of South Africa’s most well respected turntable crews which has played gigs all over the country and received a standing ovation at the Hype Magazine party in April 2006.

In 2007, the Idol Hands won all the DJ battles in the African Hip Hop Indaba. Which qualified them to compete in the World DMC Championship. They put S.A. on the turntablist map by competing in all three DMC events.DJ Niffty has played along side some of the world best DJ’s, such as Dj Craze (3 Time DMC battle winner) Dj Woody(ITF and Vestax champion and inventor of the Woodpecker scratch) Tim Westwood (world famous Radio 1 hip hop DJ from London), Wordsworth, Dj Krush and Killa Kela.
